Yay! It’s part 2 of Christmas books you want on your shelf! Reading with my parents and grandparents during Christmas holidays was a huge part of my upbringing, and I love reading books with children in my life (via Zoom) now. Christmas books are truly gifts that keep on giving, because you can read them year after year after year. And they make wonderful heirlooms!

I am just so excited to share this book with you. Over the past couple months I’ve heard the author, Glenys Nellist, speak during a Writing for Your Life conference and have followed her on social media. Glenys is delightful, and her book is the same! (And check out her other books, too!)

Little Mole’s Christmas Gift by Glenys Nellist

Firstly, I am so glad that stories are being told with sweet little moles, because we haven’t had enough of them since Wind in the Willows. My grandmother Betty would be so happy!

Secondly, it is rare that a story can get at the “true spirit of Christmas” with such simple construction. Little Mole wants to give his Mama the best Christmas gift ever—and he finds just the thing in a precious mushroom! But as he travels home, he runs into friends who need help…what is Little Mole to do? What happens if he stops to help them, sharing part of Mama’s gift? This book will be a great Christmas gift that teaches kids in your life about generosity, kindness and the joy that comes with sharing, particularly during this season. The simple illustrations by Sally Garland are beautiful, as well, and the little polkadot mushrooms make me want to do crafts. I can’t wait to share this book with my friend’s kids this Christmas.
